it's just a simple code injection @ the network level between client and server, as the chat channels are hosted by a server not connected to the system node shards(as stated by GMs), you can prevent yourself from showing up in local by brownboxing the network stack. Stops you appearing in all other channels too, unfortunately, but no much of a problem.
edit: that people think this is a joke is p funny, it's only been leaked now cos a macro that can vaguely speak english has blabbed on the forums.

perhaps they just have them added to their address books on alts, with mains logged off in a belt, and when a macrobot logs in (after logging off at a belt - they know what belt they logged off at because of the wrecks left) they log in, autowarp to the same belt...and the macrobot dies :((((

And they are logged off at the same time in 3 different systems? You're showing amount of your wisdom to everyone in your words.
it's not like it's pure chance, they enter local, bot logs off but bot is in their alts address book, they scour the belts, find where the bot got to (only some npc killed or an npc with partial damage) and they also log off there, then when bot logs back in PL log back in at the same time, they all warp to belt and the bot dies.
i'm just guessing, i'm a highsec noob so i don't have much wisdom :((((

Until you have proof that Monkey's actions are anything but careful preparation, skills and ingenuity, please refrain for crying haxsploit. On the contrary, so far in this thread the only admittance of wrongdoing comes from macroers who freely admit to using botting software.
Which leads me, ironically, to the god-mode you speak of. 0.0 was never meant to be risk-free, and bots scanning local chat for unwanted presence, and subsequently automating warp & cloak or logoff, ARE in fact god-mode.
But this phenomena isn't limited to bots. Players relying on local chat to warp & cloak or logoff at the first sign of an unfamiliar or hostile face in local are in fact evading the risk inherent to 0.0, and that should not be happening.
Hence, local must go. And until then, I am thankful for Monkey's action as some sort of masked bringer of awesum justice to deal with the evil risk-free leeches of 0.0. Yeah, Monkey = Batman. 
Well get monkey to tell people how they did do it then? By the mere fact he is NOT stating and is reluctant to show how he and his friends do this, pretty much proves its dodgy and people will shout hax...prove them wrong...

what's so surprising about them cracking it in 3 days? shouldn't underestimate russian hackers tbh
that said even I knew what was going on in a rough sense, that's pretty f'in hilarious in itself.

i, too, am from russia, and make a living from filming fake **** scenes in war torn villages (you can see me in such films as 'suck my fat Chernobyl' and 'Stalin ****s Palin'), and i don't know any other russians who use macro, but i know some japanese who film fake **** scenes in subway trains who do.
no really, the PL posters and their alts in this thread are f'in ridiculous.
